I admire recently discovered Broadway playwright and actor. Not only did Lin Manuel compose a very popular Broadway show, but he also performed in it! Lin plays one of the main characters named Usnavi. Usnavi and the other characters were all hispanics living in Washington Heights, New York. In the Heights debuted on Broadway in 2008. However, since then it has been performed by many youth and professional theater productions.

Qualities of Idol

One of my minor characters, Brynn longs to be a performer on Broadway. Although Brynn is only 23 years old, she is still very passionate when it comes to her musical theater skills. In a way, I do believe that this character reflects me. Although my character may not end up making it on Broadway, she still has some admirations like Lin Manuel had.

Antagonist

The major anttagonist in my story is Daryll Lauler, Avery's father. Daryll is quite the alchoholic, and in addition to this, he doesn't have a job that produces enough money to support the family. Another antagonist in the story is Avery's mother Nina. The outcome of these issues is actually quite scandelous, and will be a very important part of my story.

Protagonist

One of the many protagonists in this story is Brynn Williams, the student that Avery mentors.Brynn helps to improve the attitude and condition of Riley's opinions. Without Brynn, there is a good chance that the story would end in many deaths of important characters. Another group of protagonists is the Parke family. Without them, the children would be conquered by the antagonist.

Theme

The theme of my story is about a family of four people. However, this family of four suddenly becomes only three, when the mother decided to leave. This was a major issue, becausen the mom was the one collecting income for the family. When the family did not have money anymore, the father was pressured into drinking. This also ties into the children being beaten because their father was alwaays drunk. When the child that Avery tutor's hears about this, she calls a nearby foster mom, without telling Avery, of course. Suddenly, Ms.Parke (Foster mom) appears as the substitute school counselor two days later. when she makes it a point of persuading Avery and Riley to move in with her the next Tuesday .The kids sneak out a while later, and move to New York with a new, more fortunante family, now. When Avery runs into her biological mom, and is pressured by her foster mother to live somewhere else, it's all to much. Avery kills herself.

Experience
I once met a kid that my sister was mentoring at camp one year. When I met her, she started to teach me more and more about how to respect myself and others. She also made it clear to me that my health always needs to come before my desires, which is the moral of the story.
Failure
For the first time, I did not get a role that I auditioned for. It took a pretty long time for that to happen, so I was really cocky when it came to competing with other people. Brynn has experienced this same issue in the story.

Hook

It was a particularly cold December the year that she left. We didn’t know why she left at first. And we didn't know how. All we knew was that she did. That was all that we needed to know.

Subtext

"Riley, give your sister this note. Don't read it, and don't stop. Just run home, now." Riley was pretty reluctant for a moment. "Uhh, who are you exactly? I don't know why you keep talking to me. But I don't think that you're supposed to. So take the note, and I'm going home." He folded the note into Brynn's warm hand and began to walk away. "Wait! Just give it to her please, Riley. I know that this is kind of awkwa--" "I DON'T KNOW YOU" Riley yelled firmly, letting this girl know that he was serious, very, serious. she mumbled something under her breath before exiting the auditorium, an expression of disipointment slowly spreading across her face.

Emotional state

"Hey Ave, Ave! You forgot your pencil. Avery, AVERY" Avery grinded her teeth before spinning on the heels of her feet. "What?!" She asked. Avery's voice had a certain twinge in it as she responded. "You left your pencil." Avery ignored Brynn and began to walk again "Avery, is something wrong?"Avery freaked. "God Brynn, Just SHUT UP! I hate you! Gawd. Yes, Brynn, I know that you were the one who told that skank to come to my frikking house in the first place. You need to quit sticking in your nose where it doesn't belong, Brynn. Because honestly, that's why we all hate you." Brynn felt her bottom lip begin to quiver."Avery,I'm sorry." Avery waved her off, as she felt a tear well up in her eye. "Leave me alone" She muttered, before begining to run away. Sweating, crying and screaming all at the same time.

REVERSE

Jessica walked briskly through the woods, her ponytail swaying in the crisp wind. The crackle of dry leaves erupted from just below her green Chuck Taylor as she heard what seemed to be an owl. Owl? The sound repeated itself, sounding a little bit closer this time. Then again. No way that was an owl. But what else could it be? A bear? A tiger? A boar? Jessica felt beads of sweat roll down her forehead. Yup, it was definitely a boar, it just had to be a boar. The sound was closer again, so close that Jessica could feel it's hot breath on the back of her thigh. O.M.G. Finally, she let out a long, breathy sigh before turning around. All that Jessica could make out was a short chubby figure that seemed to have an awkward hunched back. Jessica held up her cell phone to see what it was. The phone shined and for a moment, Jessica even flinched a little when she saw the outline of Brynn's huge eyes staring into the light.

Show Don't Tell
Avery slammed the door hard. She looked back to make sure that it was shut all the way before she began to sprint. She dodged 3 teenagers in the hallway before squeezing herself into a bathroom and sobbing. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, but when Avery opened her mouth to respond, nothing came out. "Ave, you okay?" Tara's soft voice soothed Avery somewhat, but her mind was still on the incident that had just recently scarred her for life. "Tara?" she heard Tara's shoulder bang against the stall door "I'm here" She answered, "I always will be". Avery wiped her tears with her sleeve before opening the door. "I'm fine" She said after a silent moment of staring at her best friend. Eventually, Tara spread her arms out and Avery clasped her tiny body in a hug. As soon as Tara and Avery came in contact, the tears started spilling out, and they wouldn't stop. So there they were, Avery and Tara, best friends once again, hugging while crying in the middle of the bathroom.

Personal Expirience

I've gotten in arguments with my friends so many times before. This story is about one particular fight with a really close friend of mine about an unimportant subject that led us to realize that we were way to joined at the hip.

Admiration and Pity

In the story Lost Sister, Dorothy Johnson makes the readers feel very bad for their newlyfound indian sister. Not only does her description make the reader feel a sense of pity, but the way that the other sisters feel about her also may rub off on the reader.
